Is Debt Consolidation A Good Alternative?

Being in debt is like slowly drowning. Every month when the bills come I get a sick feeling in my stomach. I’m barely meeting the monthly minimum and I’m starting to get calls from creditors. I’m considering bankruptcy but I know it will be on my credit for years. Just when I thought I had no other alternative, my father told me about debt consolidation. A company with experience in the area of debt would meet with me, go over my finances and come up with an easy payment plan to take care of all of my debt. I finally feel like I can breathe again.
