Truth and Lies

I had a client once who just couldn’t tell the truth. Sometimes I think he was actually trying to be honest, but years of falsehood did him in. I had him for quite a few cases, as he just kept getting into trouble. And it didn’t seem to faze him when I would tell him that being honest would actually help me with his case. He just didn’t believe me. In addition to his lies, he also stole anything not nailed down. We would lose highlighters, legal exhibit dividers, coffee cups, and the candies from the bowl on my secretary’s desk almost every time he came into the office.
