My First Year

When I first started teaching, the students were not very receptive to me. I was a straight arrow teacher that did not allow for any gray area in my black and white perceptions. I followed all school rules to a tee and expected my students to do so also. For the most part, I think it was safe to say that the students hated me. They eventually came around and positive student teacher relationships started forming. It was around this time that I called the parents of two students to express my concern that they needed marijuana drug testing. The parents were offended at first, but then thankful to know that I cared.
