Everything I Ever Wanted to Know About a Port Authorization Code

If you are an American who moves to England, you have a lot of learning to do. Even though the British speak the same language, their slang and technical terms can be very confusing to an American ear. If you date, as I did, it gets really interesting. My first experience with U.K. socializing happened when a friend introduced me to a man who spent the evening explaining how frustrated it was getting a port authorisation code. When I told him I had no idea what that was it gave him the perfect opportunity to show off and teach me something English. I learned a lot that night, such as never to ask a technically-minded date a question – unless you do not want to talk.
